Experience

Complete optical system of a laser spectrometer hardened for flight.

Instrumentation Development

I hold an Engineering degree in Applied Laser Technology (2003) and a

PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Karlsruhe (2008).

During the past 20+ years I have gained broad experience in designing and building instruments for precise and accurate trace-gas detection in both academia and industry. Some of these designs were hardened and fully automated for flight.

I understand the challenges of mitigating noise and drift from the instrument down to the component level.

Field Experiments

I have designed custom-made instruments for and participated in various field campaigns both ground-based and airborne. I understand the challenges in getting instrumentation automated and field hardened.
